At Colour Land, we are known for some of the most accurate paint colour matches in the Burlington, Oakville, Milton, Waterdown, and Hamilton area. Whether you are touching up an existing wall, matching an old paint colour, working from a sample, or trying to recreate a discontinued colour, Peter Raimondi takes colour matching seriously.

Our advantage comes from experience, careful eye matching, and our proprietary tinting approach used in the creation of Graimondi colours. These specialized tint adjustments allow us to fine-tune colours with greater precision than a standard formula alone, helping us achieve cleaner, closer, and more reliable paint matches.

What Size Sample Should You Bring?

For the best possible paint colour match, bring in a sample that is clean, solid, and large enough for accurate evaluation. The smallest sample we can work with is about 2 mm, but a sample around the size of a quarter is much better whenever possible.

Good sample options include a painted chip, drywall piece, cabinet panel, trim piece, or another smooth painted surface. A larger, cleaner sample gives us more colour surface to read and evaluate, which helps improve the accuracy of the match.

If the colour is on drywall, carefully use a utility knife to score the paper surface and remove a piece at least the minimum sample size. Bring that sample into the store and Peter will evaluate it for paint matching.

Once we create your paint colour match, Colour Land saves the colour history in our POS system so it can be looked up again if you ever need more paint in the future.

Please Note: We Do Not Match Interior Stain

Colour Land specializes in paint colour matching only. We do not provide interior stain matching for wood, furniture, floors, doors, trim, or cabinetry.

Stain matching is very different from paint matching because the final colour depends heavily on the type of wood, grain, age, sanding, absorption, previous finish, and application method. For that reason, we do not offer interior stain matching services.

For paint colour matches, however, Colour Land is proud to be one of the area’s most trusted destinations.

What Else Should You Bring for a Paint Match?

  • The original paint-can label, if you have it: the colour name or number, product and sheen help us understand what is already on the surface.
  • A physical sample: a clean, flat painted piece is more useful for evaluating the actual colour than a phone image.
  • Photos of the project: show us the room, the surface and the area you want to repaint. Photos provide context; lighting and screens can change how the colour looks.
  • Your project goal: tell us whether you want to touch up a small repair, repaint a whole wall, match trim or coordinate a new surface.

Colour Matching and Touch-Ups: What to Expect

A close colour match does not guarantee an invisible touch-up. Sheen and surface texture also affect the result, including the texture left by a brush or roller. Tell us which product and finish were used originally, if known. Test a small area and let it dry before judging the result; repainting the full wall may give a more even appearance.

Our Benjamin Moore sheen guide explains finish choices. Benjamin Moore also provides a guide to touching up paint.

Matching a Sample or Ordering a Benjamin Moore Colour?

If you already know the Benjamin Moore colour name and number, bring those details with you. We tint Benjamin Moore colours using official Benjamin Moore formulas. Matching an unknown painted sample is a different task: we assess the sample and discuss the product, finish and result you are trying to achieve.

Paint Colour Matching Questions

Can you help with an old or discontinued paint colour?

Bring the original label and a physical painted sample if possible. We can evaluate what you have and discuss a custom paint match. A colour name alone may not provide enough information.

Can you match paint from a photograph?

A photograph helps us understand the project, but it is not a reliable reference for an exact match. Bring a physical painted sample whenever possible.

Can I order more of a colour you previously matched?

Colour Land saves your matched colour history in its POS system. Bring the previous can label or purchase details so we can look up the match and confirm the product and sheen.

How much does matching cost, and how long will it take?

Call or visit with your sample and project details so we can confirm the options, pricing, product availability and timing for your particular match.
